I have wasted too much time in life trying to prove others wrong. A lot being high school teachers, but admittingly I was also trying to make my parents proud at the same time.

Many folks are nice to you only when you have something they want or need at that moment in time. I always had the mindset that if you do good things for others, they will look after you. Most of the time this is false. You and only you control your future, and at the end of the day, everybody looks out for themselves.

Those teachers most likely do not even remember me. My parents would love me no matter how successful I became and they are long gone now anyways. So why do I keep trying?

You know what… maybe I have been trying to prove all this to myself but here is my point. You truly end up missing out on great life moments always being on the run.
